This training is designed to be self-paced and give you the background information needed to learn the “I Believe You” method to responding to victims of domestic or sexual violence in a helpful, trauma-informed way.
WIN Victim Services has been providing services to victims of violence in Franklin and Fulton counties for over 40 years, but our advocates are rarely the first person a victim has talked to about the violence they experienced. Usually victims reach out to friends, family, nurses, police, and other community members for help first. The response they get can make a big impact on whether the victim continues seeking help.
The “I Believe You” Method and Training is designed to help teach community members how to respond to disclosures of abuse in a way that makes victims feel safe and encourages them to continue seeking help and support.
The online portion will cover important information about violence, trauma, and more that helpers should know. The follow-up in-person training will cover the B.E.L.I.E.V.E. method and opportunities to practice responding to disclosures.
